DataLock software uses the internet to send and recieve data to and from the backup servers housed by Maxnet.  To ensure your backups can run successfully, please ensure that TCP port 8443 outbound is open.  If you absolutely must lock the outbound ports to specific IP addresses, please note that these are subject to change without notification, and this article may not necessaries be updated before the changes happen.

123.100.91.13

123.100.67.93 - 123.100.67.110

You may need to make sure that settings are adjusted by any firewalls, routers or proxies running in your particular environment, or ISP proxies or filters run by your ISP (such as Telecom's School Zone or by Watchdog).

IMPORTANT: Please check the version number of the file called sxs.dll which is located in the C:\Windows\system32 folder. If you right click on this file, and choose properties, you would see the version number. If the version number is lower than 5.1.2600.3019, please download and apply the Microsoft security update.

Step 1

Download the following hotfix file (see attached files in this topic)

Step 2

Shutdown the backup scheduler:

  • (Windows) [Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Online Backup Scheduler (DataLock Software)]
  • (Mac OS X) Run "touch /Applications/[DataLock Software]/ipc/Scheduler/stop"
  • (Linux / Unix / BSD) Run "touch $OBM_HOME/ipc/Scheduler/stop"
  • (NetWare) Create an empty file "SYS:\.obm\ipc\Scheduler\stop"

Step 3

Shutdown Continuous Data Protection (Windows Only)

  •  [Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Continuous Data Protection (DataLock Software)]

Step 4

Close System Tray Icon (Windows Only)

Step 5

Install the hotfix files:

  • (Windows) Expand windows-patch.zip and copy contents into C:\Program Files\[DataLock Software]
  • (Mac OS X) Expand [mac-patch.zip] downloaded to [/Applications/[DataLock Software]]
  • (Linux / Unix / BSD) Expand [Linux-patch.zip] downloaded to [$[DataLock Software]] (e.g. /usr/local/obm or similar)

Be sure to expand all files within the zip archive to their path locations as in the zip archive (Do not remove anything from the [C:\Program Files\[DataLock Software]], only overwrite existing files when necessary). For example, you need to expand the file, "bin\obc.jar", inside the zip archive to "C:\Program Files\[DataLock Software]\bin\obc.jar"

Step 6

Restart the backup scheduler by:

  • (Windows) [Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Online Backup Scheduler (DataLock Software)]
  • (Mac OS X) Run "SystemStarter start [DataLock Software]"
  • (Linux / Unix / BSD) Run "$OBM_HOME/bin/Scheduler.sh"
  • (NetWare) Run "SYS:\AhsayOBM\bin\Scheduler.ncf"

Step 7

Startup the Continuous Data Protection (Windows Only) by:

  • [Control Panel] -> [Administrative Tools] -> [Services] -> [Continuous Data Protection (DataLock Software)]

Step 8
